General Info
What is Bethany Houseparty?
Bethany Houseparty is a charity that runs Christian holidays for teenagers. Originally founded in 1919 under the auspices of the Crusaders’ Union (now Urban Saints), we became an independent charity in 2024. We offer Christian holidays for young people aged 11-16 at a range of locations.
We put on a varied programme of sporting, music and craft activities, and give young people time and space to relax with friends, old and new. There is the opportunity to develop lasting friendships – a real strength of this houseparty! – and many come back year after year. We provide opportunities for young people to explore what Christian faith can mean for them, and a variety of ways in which they can mature in this faith, as appropriate for them.
Who runs Houseparty?
Houseparty is run by volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds. We have trustees who are responsible for ethos and organisation of houseparty, and who appoint the senior leadership team. The houseparty leadership team is drawn from a range of backgrounds, ages and professions. Most have been on the houseparty as teenagers or helpers so they know what’s involved. All volunteers are subject to stringent checks, in line with the Houseparty’s Safeguarding Policy, and in conjunction with the safeguarding organisation, 31:8.
What do we believe?
We are non-denominational, with leaders coming from a range of church backgrounds. All leaders subscribe to our Basis of Faith.
Does my child have to be a Christian to attend Houseparty?
No – we welcome young people from a wide variety of backgrounds including those who do not attend church regularly. All campers should understand that there will be Christian teaching on the holiday.
Does my child have to be part of a youth group to attend?
We have groups that come to us from around the country. Most of our young people come for the first time by friends inviting them or their youth groups attending, but you do not have be part of a youth group to come.
Where are the holidays?
In 2026 we are running two holidays. Quinta and Bethany. Quinta is at a Christian centre in Shropshire, and Bethany is at a boarding school in Kent. You can find out more here:
