Phil first attended the houseparty as camper in 1973 and then served as leader from 1980 to 1992. He has maintained a keen interest in the houseparty with, at various times, his daughter attending and leading and his brother-in-law acting as Padre. Phil was a chartered accountant working for PricewaterhouseCoopers for many years and since his retirement acts as trustee for a number of Christian charities, including his church in Harpenden.
